When making large purchases, it is always important to get everything in writing. This ensures that you know exactly what you are getting, what you are paying and the terms of the sale or hire.

A hire contract is especially important when booking a coach for a special occasion as you are probably hiring the coach for a very important day and you want to make sure everything goes well. Therefore you need to know exactly what you are getting and what you are paying for, as well as the procedure if you or the coach hire company has to cancel.

However, with the coach hire industry expanding so rapidly, it is quite likely you will encounter a coach hire company which has not been in business very long. While there is nothing wrong with hiring from a new coach hire company, in fact they probably have newer vehicles and more modern offices and services, they may not have organised all of the necessary paperwork for their coach hire yet.

This may mean that the new coach hire company does not have a complete hire contract ready for you to sign. This is a reason not to hire with a coach hire company, new or not. While the contract protects both you and the coach hire company, you should really just be worried about yourself and make sure that there is something in writing in the form of a contract.

While not everyone realises the importance of a hire contract, you should make sure you have every detail of the hire in writing including the dates and times of the hire, the exact coach you are hiring, the extras included in your contract and of course the final price.

You also need to make sure you and the coach hire company sign and agree on what happens if you or the coach hire company cancels, the coach you booked is unavailable and if there are cancellation or late fees.
